Comprendé and the Wellington Saints: A conversation about community, property and partnership
We sat down with Grant Foggo, Founder and CEO of Comprendé, to talk about why Comprendé is backing the Wellington Saints, what the partnership means for the brand, and how it reflects the company’s commitment to raising the standards of the property industry through empathy, integrity and care.
Q: Tell us about Comprendé’s sponsorship of the Wellington Saints.
Grant:
At Comprendé, property has always been about more than houses, tenancies, sales and investment returns. It’s about helping people feel at home and supporting the neighbourhoods and communities that make Wellington such a great place to live.
Comprendé has been proudly serving Wellington since 2014. We started in property management and have grown into a one-stop property partner, supporting owners, investors, tenants, buyers and sellers across every stage of their property journey.
That’s why our sponsorship of the Wellington Saints feels like such a natural fit. As one of Wellington’s most loved sporting teams, the Saints bring together families, fans and communities from across the region. Their games are full of energy, connection and local pride – qualities that reflect the best of Wellington.
Supporting the Saints is our way of backing an organisation that contributes so much to our city.
Q: Why sponsor a basketball team?
Grant:
Basketball has an amazing energy. It’s fast, inclusive, exciting and accessible. We see our kids playing it at school, families heading along to games, fans getting behind their team and communities gathering around the court.
That really resonates with us. At Comprendé, we work with clients during important moments in their lives – finding a rental home, managing an investment property, selling a home, buying a new one, or needing support when something goes wrong. Property can be stressful, so our role is to make those experiences easier, clearer and more human.
Sport, much like property, is ultimately about connection. It creates a sense of belonging and gives people something to rally behind. That’s why this sponsorship makes sense for a people-first property agency like ours.
As a Wellington business owner, I admire the Saints’ role in bringing the city together. They’re a team that people genuinely care about, and we’re proud to support that.
Q: What does this sponsorship say about the Comprendé brand?
Grant:
It says we’re a genuine part of the Wellington community, not just operating within it.
Our purpose is to raise the standards of the property industry by leading with empathy and care. That can’t just be something we say on our website. It has to show up in what we do, who we support and how we behave.
Sponsoring the Saints gives us a way to express those values in a visible and meaningful way. It reinforces that Comprendé is more than a property management and real estate company. We’re a local business that cares deeply about Wellington and wants to contribute to the things that make this city great.
Q: How does the sponsorship align with Comprendé’s values?
Grant:
Our brand pillars include kindness, generosity, empathy, integrity, grit and determination. You can see all of those values in a great sports team.
Basketball is built on teamwork. No one wins alone. You need trust, communication, resilience and a shared goal. That’s exactly how we work at Comprendé.
Behind every great property experience are property managers, field teams, salespeople, owners, tenants, tradespeople, administrators and support staff all working together. When it works well, it feels seamless. That’s what we aim for every day.
The Saints demonstrate that same commitment to teamwork and perseverance every time they step onto the court. The property industry can be complex, and achieving great outcomes often requires persistence, care and strong communication. That’s something we really relate to.
Q: What impact do you expect the sponsorship to have on the Comprendé brand?
Grant:
There’s definitely a brand awareness benefit, especially across Wellington. Sponsorship gives people another way to discover us and understand who we are.
But awareness is only part of it. The bigger opportunity is emotional connection.
People remember brands that show up in places they already care about. If someone sees Comprendé supporting the Saints and later needs a Wellington property manager, a rental appraisal, help selling a property, or advice about an investment, we hope they’ll remember us as a company that feels local, trusted and approachable.
It also helps reinforce what makes us different. We’re not a faceless property agency. We’re a small team built on trust, communication and exceptional service. We believe property should feel less stressful and more supported.
Q: Any final thoughts?
Grant:
If you haven’t yet, head along to the TSB Arena to watch the Saints in action before the end of the season. We’d love to see you there!
